Gisèle Prassinos (French-Greek, 1920 - 2015) was a poet and novelist who was discovered at fourteen by the Surrealists, whom she met through her brother Mario Prassinos. Her writing was published by André Breton in Minotaure in 1934, and in 1935 she published her first book La Sauterelle arthritique, with a preface by Éluard and an interior photograph by Man Ray, seen here. Standing listening to the young poet, from left to right, are Jean-Marie Prassinos, Henri Parisot, Benjamin Péret, and René Char. Seated in the front, deeply engaged in the reading, are André Breton and Paul Éluard.
