Executed between 1963-1978 in an edition of 7 numbered 1/7-7/7 and 3 artist's proofs numbered I/III-III/III. The present work is number 2/7 from the edition and was cast by Atelier Robert Haligon, France for Galerie Boulakia, Paris. Each object is hand-painted by the artist. Experimenting across mediums, Oppenheim realized cloud compositions in paint, bronze, and graphite. Inspired by written accounts from her dream diaries and vivid descriptions of clouds, fog, and the moon, Oppenheim’s works from this period allude to nature, but are in fact purely abstract, leaving more room for interpretation.
