Executed in 1936. The result of a conversation between Meret Oppenheim, Pablo Picasso, and Dora Maar at a café in Paris, this fur covered cup and spoon inspired countless works by Oppenheim in which she experimented with different materials and arranged objects in bizarre combinations. Man Ray was the chosen photographer among the Dada and Surrealist artists at the time this photograph was taken. This photograph was published in Alfred Barr's 1936 catalogue Fantastic Art, Dada, Surrealism published to coincide with an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art.
