Executed in 1987. This photograph belongs to Marcel Märien’s mature period when he produced the bulk of his photographic works between 1983 and 1993. These late images are characterized by simple compositions that focus on the arrangement of the mise-en-scène female nude with various objects or props. In Les Passagères (Miroir charnel), Märien employs the same methods of doubling and repetition, mirroring and concealment as fellow Belgian Surrealist artist René Magritte to depict a mirrored nude female figure seated on a chair.
