Executed in 2023.
New York-based artist and designer Rogan Gregory brings a sensuality to each of his works. Influenced by Isamu Noguchi and Wendell Castle, the designer models his works from abstract forms, geology, and evolutionary biology. As the title suggests, the Anthozoa Coffee Table takes its shape from the sea creature, Anthozoa, which is a class of marine invertebrates; the smooth, organic shape of the table is certainly reminiscent of tentacles being gently moved around by the water. Simultaneously organic and futuristic, Gregory’s designs appear otherworldly, yet familiar. As a surfer and diver, Gregory often takes inspiration from the ocean, explaining, “I imagine that a lot of animals that exist in the deep, deep ocean might be similar to what could exist in a place with a different atmosphere, different gravitational pull and the absence of light.” [1]
