Brooklyn based designers Chen Chen & Kai Williams met while studying industrial design at Pratt Institute and in 2011 they founded a studio known for creating eclectic furniture and objects. Together, they seek to explore the possibilities of unexpected materials, often experimenting with both natural and found materials. 36″ Geo Transition Mirror – No. 5 belongs to a series of mirrors that the two designers created with contrasting visual elements and materials. The defining quality of this body of work are the contrasting rock elements decorating the perimeter of the mirror — the juxtaposition of the smooth glass with the beveled edges of the rock creates a visual tension.
